Twenty11-Part 1

So, a month and a half ago, I promised to upload some lyrics from My Awakening's songbook, and as of yet, haven't. Well you know me. So I figured, with it being New Year's Eve tomorrow, I'd do one now, one of our newest song's, called 'Twenty11.' Can you guess what it's about? Haha.

We debuted this song last week, at The Picket, after I'd spent the last four months hating the chorus, and not being able to get it quite right. So this song, my friends, is Twenty11 Take 2.

I start as I mean to go on
One night to foreshadow a year to come.
Tears in the bathroom, tears in the grass
But finished with laughter of the highest class.

Would I relive 2011
I laughed the most in 2011
I cried the most in 2011
Oh I loved 2011.

Forget Summer Of '69
To be truthful
This summer was mine.
Painted faces, campfires,
Underneath the stars
Found out how much nicer
Turkish hospitals are than ours.

Would I relive 2011
I laughed the most in 2011
I cried the most in 2011
Oh I loved 2011.

From the very first blink I could see things start to change
People and surroundings day by day
From the very first breath I found it hard to
Catch it

Would I relive 2011
I laughed the most in 2011
I cried the most in 2011
I loved the most in 2011.

So, there you have it, think it sums up the year pretty well, or at least as well as such a short song could. Hopefully there'll be a follow up this time next year!

I am going to post a bit later on, like I did last year, with a quick roundup.

Alright world of blog!

Seven months since I wrote last, wow. And it wasn't the best expert to go out on really, was it? I'm still here, and I'm good, don't all eight of you worry about little old me.

To be honest, this kinda fell by the wayside, to what, I'm not too sure. But I've finished uni now, and well, that's pretty much it. I'm not a teacher (yet), and everytime someone asks 'So what are you up to now?' I squirm. I'm a till girl, same as usual, hopefully not forever though! I've decided however, to start blogging again, as part of my 'sort my life out week.' Firstly, last week, I was reminded of this, and decided to have a quick 'Oh dear what on earth had I written' nose, (still haven't got the courage to, apart from the last entry, which was pretty depressive) and then on Monday, I met up with my friend Hayley from uni, who made me decide to get writing at least something again, so my nine or whatever grand I spent there doesn't go completely to waste.

And so, my idea has been born. Given that I have a grand total of eight followers who, apart a couple probably don't even know this still exists, so I assume this is pretty private and given that I'm right now putting off writing new lyrics for My Awakening, AND given that I've just had a Taylor Swiftathon and analysed the whole of her Speak Now album, I've decided I'm gonna publish the lyrics we use in our songs, and put down a bit of background for each of them. I'm doing it here because I can't really be doing with hand writing them at 1:45am, and because you don't get a pretty little background on Word. And because nobody reads this anyway, or even knows I'm writing again. Muahahahaha. Of course, if people (strangers) come to our gigs and ask what they're about, I can direct them here, because, they won't know any of the people in question.

I am a genius mastermind. Ohhhyeah.

It's summer, it is. Even though it's only April, it is, we'll probably not get much weather like this in actual summer.

So I've not been around for a while, I kinda got the wind knocked out of me in a massive way. I'm not gonna go into it here, but loads of stuff has happened recently that I never thought would happen, and not in a good way. Today's pretty much the first day I've felt properly like myself in a while.

I don't even know why I'm writing this, maybe just to get everything out and to say, I'm okay. I'm not as strong as I thought I was, I just hadn't been through enough stuff that required strength, and I know I'm pretty much gonna have to soon.

I'm really grateful for my friends, all the people who make stuff fun, and who care. I know I'm pretty much a closed book most of the time, and I just hope they know I appreciate everything they do, but I don't want to burden them with my issues, though sometimes I wish I could open up more, because it sucks thinking about stuff by myself.

And I apologise in advance if I'm a dragon anytime soon.

I'll post again soon, when I have something worth posting about. I don't want to waste a moment of this life so it should be soon :)
I'm considering going travelling next year, wish I had someone who'd come with though!

I'm back bitches!

Sooo, after last week's bleakness, the sun has (literally) come out in full force this week! Apart from this actual fail of an essay, the week's been pretty good so far, maybe, even my favourite of 11! I love it when the sun comes out :)

Besides, on Sunday My Awakening had our first gig. Can you tell how it went?
It was gooooooooooooood :)

I was so nervous, because it was our first one, and people didn't really know what to expect, plus we were a pop/rock band in amongst a load of metal, so I was scared everyone would just walk off, and/or boo, but actually, it was immense. (Yeah, I used the word immense...) The crowd were really great, and we got to have a bit of a laugh with them, which was cool, and something that we weren't too strong on in Dear Chicago, onwards and upwards!

I definitely feel that as a group, we gel more that we did in Dear Chicago, which was pretty much two sides fighting within itself, though it was fun in the beginning. We definitely all listen to each other more in this one, but it's only the beginning, we'll see how it goes, but to be honest, I can't see it ending the same was as DC did, and I can't imagine us lot getting bitchy with each other, or snappy.

So all in all, I love my new band!

Thanks everyone who came to see us, and who made my night amazing, hopefully, we'll get ourselves a few more gigs soon, we already have one lined up in April!

The Sun has ARRIVED!

Hello there blog :)

It seems this week that everybody, or at last a massive majority of people I know have been feeling pretty downhearted, me included, maybe it's the 'supermoon?'

In all seriousness though, this has been a pretty crappy couple of weeks for the world in general, but what's struck me, with the situation in Japan, and Comic Relief mainly, is the way people almost innately band together to help people in trouble. We live in such a broken world, but people give me faith in humans. We're not all bad.

The Nuclear workers in Japan, the firefighters, the helecopter pilots, they all know they're risking their lives, yet are working around the clock to make sure more people don't. I had to have a little cry when I read some of the tweets made by their families, and the messages from the workers. Amazing amazing people.

Anyway, day #2 of my Photo-thingy is
A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest.

I'm pretty sure, that that person is my friend Danielle, since I've known her since I was two and all. She caused my first memorable injury when she stood up under a trampoline at playgroup that I was on, then a few years later I repaid her by breaking her arm...(Ask to see her scar)
She's a twin, and I used to be convinced that her twin was called Daniel, because of her name, but it's actually Tom.
She used to fancy H from Steps, but can't seem to remember, we went to our first ever gig together (Party On The Pier 1999), in our teens we were totally different, with her going all goth, and me being pretty damn girly, but it didn't matter, she introduced me to loads of people who I'm still friends with now.

She's fabulous!

So here goes...

So far this week, I have established that:
A) Boys can be really stupid
B) There's a high chance I'm cursed
C) My friends are fabulous
D) I work every weekend, yet never seem to have any money at all
E) I need to stop eating so many noodles
F) I cannot wait for the gig on Sunday!

Anyway, that was purely to fill up some space, cos I really want to do the 30 day photo challenge, but to save my facebook being clogged, I'm gonna do it here. Soooound.

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with ten facts

I don't actually have a picture of myself on here since my laptop had to be rescued, so if you don't know, I'm the blonde one in the spotty dress. The other girl is one of my besties Jess, who I talk about quite a bit here. This was taken in Leeds in January when we went over to visit our friend Donna, who lives there for uni, and I think this was between the moment we decided that as 'partners in crime', we were going to make the most of the unfamiliar scenery and get totally hammered, downing quite a lot of shots secretly in the kitchen, coming back all giggly, and the moment that we both realised we felt really sick, and probably should stick to water for a while.

Lesson of the night: It's all about spacing them out people! Going from sober to ill with no fun in between is stupid!

Also, everytime we've broken out the 'partners in crime' line, at least one of us has at least felt ill. Maybe we should stop!

Ahh, it seems I forgot about the ten facts...

#1: I'm a natural blonde, and you can tell.

#2: I love music! It provokes so many things in me it's unreal.

#3: I'm only 5"1, and I'm a bit sensitive about it, the first time I spoke to my friend Andri, I hit her because she used the word 'short.'

#4: I could pretty much tell you the name of every single top 12 contestant in the X Factor ever, and in American Idol since about 2005.

#5: I'm in a band called 'My Awakening.'

#6: My favourite type of food is Indian.

#7: I'm instantly happier when the sun's out

#8: I study English Literature & Creative Writing in Edge Hill uni, but graduate in the Summer, eek!

#9: I aspire to either be a singer, or a teacher, and am currently failing at both aspirations, but I'll get there, don't you worry!

#10: My friends say that you can tell when I'm annoyed by my eyebrows disappearing somewhere into my hairline.

Au revoir for now!

A little moan...apologies!

Bonjour blog,

So, today I deleted my religion from facebook. I have actually been contemplating doing it for a while, but I watched a video someone had linked to, and it was pretty much the last straw. I don't want to be associated with people who can look at something like the Japan Earthquake, and thank God for giving the atheists a 'wakeup call.' I know that's an extreme example, and there are more minor ones that I've come across too, like, surely one of the most important aspects of Christianity is 'thou shalt not judge?' Yet Christians are generally seen as one of the most judgemental groups of people there are.

Actually, most Christians I know are brilliant, the people in my church are some of the most welcoming people I've ever met, and never fail to put me in a good mood, and then there are the people I've met through MCYC, who work so hard and give so much time to give people a place they'll love, somewhere they belong, and somewhere they'll come back to. These are the people who should represent what it's all about, not the fear-mongering, the ones who take pleasure in telling people they're living wrong, or going to hell (which, they don't actually know, unless, they themselves are God, and I'm pretty sure the God I follow isn't as hateful as that). Since when has it been about that? And who are they to say something is 'wrong?' Ugh.
Spread the love, not hate.

So, yeah, can you gather my mood?
There's pretty much at least a minor thing wrong in every aspect of my life right now, so excuse me for being all emo! I leave uni in like a month, and for the first time in my life, have no idea what's next for me. I kinda feel like I'm just riding along, without actually actively getting anywhere. I had two paths, one, music and two teaching, and I've got walls up in both, and I'm nearly 21.

In the youth yesterday, we all had to go round and say one good and one bad thing about our week, and it kinda made me realise how 'meh' my life is right now. I couldn't think of anything worth mentioning good, and there was nothing I wanted to share that was really bad. Plus it'd be an awkward moment to say 'Yeah, I just feel like a bit of an epic faliure in every way to be honest', and it's not like anything's going badly wrong, it's just nothing. Then there's that saying, 'at least you've got your health', but if that's all, then what kind of life is that? I want to DO something!

Anyway, sorry for the moan, I promise this is a rarity!
I'll write soon :)

Friday, 11 March 2011

Hello World!

Okay, so it seems as though this is possibly the first proper post of 2011?
Sorry! It's actually unreal how little time I've had recently, but don't worry, I'm back.

First of all, how horrible is the news about the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan and spreading? The earthquake apparently measured 8.9 on the Richtor scale. This morning when I was reading about it, there were two deaths, now, there are over 1000 and climbing. It's so sad, and has reminded me that above all, we're only human. As much as we think our lives are so important and make a fuss about so many things, nothing's certain, and nature is a much bigger force than us. Maybe we should take some time to be grateful for what we have, and concentrate on having fun, and helping others do the same, because, we only get one, and it's fragile.

Anyway, on a slightly less preachy note, I have an X factor audition tomorrow!
I'm really in two minds whether to go or not, but I've sorted it all with work now, so I'm off anyway, so may as well take the chance. I'm a firm believer in following heart over head, but this time, it just seems so ridiculous. I don't know when the callback is, even if, by some miracle I do get through, so the likelyhood is I won't be able to go anyway, with uni and work, and I don't want to make poor Danni sit there in the cold for hours for either a no, or a yes, but the callback's on such a date, and there's no way I can go. Ah well, what ever happens, happens.

Oh yeah, and I have a new band! We're called 'My Awakening' and consist of
Lead vocals: Me
Lead Guitar: Liam (AKA Dear Chicago's old drummer)
Bass: Michael (AKA Sully, apparently only his mother calls him Michael)
Drums: Anthony

Our first gig's on the 20th March! It's in The Masque and I'm really looking forward to it, I've missed gigging so much! So, wish me luck, on both counts!

Anyway, I love this song atm! So summery!
